National Museum of Anthropology (I)

A few things to know :

  • It is located near the metro stop Auditorium. It's in the "woods" (bosquet). There are a lot of museums around, and the zoo.
  • The entrance costs 57 pesos, roughly 5 dollars. It's closed on Mondays, free on Sundays. It closes at 7pm. You can take pictures but no flash.
  • The cafeteria inside : I ate there, and it't not good. Avoid it. Bring a bottle of water and Snickers that will give you enough autonomy.
  • There are elevators, I guess it's ok if you're in a wheel chair. You can sit and rest only outside. Bathrooms are clean.
  • A lot of fantastic artifacts to see. The only drawback is the lighting (from the ceiling down), and lack of date information in the vitrine (so it's not obvious if the object is from say -1000 or -500).
  • You need at least 3 hours to visit everything. It was almost empty, lot's of (young) students, a few tourists.
  • Do not hesitate to take the stairs going down (to the "underworld").
